Outlook.com / Hotmail Setup with Truckerdox

 

Outlook.com and Hotmail are compatible with Truckerdox, but may require extra steps to allow the app to communicate with your mailbox.  In addition to the standard email setup instructions, the following steps may be necessary:

 

 

 

Enable POP Access

 

By default, Outlook.com leaves POP access disabled until you specifically request it.  Follow these steps to correct the issue:

 

  1. Sign in to your Outlook.com account.

  2. Click the Options (gear) icon, and then click Options.

  3. Under Managing your account, click Connect devices and apps with POP.

  4. Under POP, select Enable.

  5. Click Save.

Manually Configure Email Settings

 

The built-in mail server settings for Outlook.com do not work for some accounts.  You may need to manually configure the email server settings in the Truckerdox app.

 

  1. Open the Truckerdox app and log in.

  2. Tap the Settings (gear) icon at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Tap the Inbox Setting button.

  4. Tap the Select Domain drop-down and choose Other at the bottom of the list.

  5. Input the following settings:

    • Mail server type:  POP

    • Incoming mail server:  pop-mail.outlook.com

    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP):  smtp-mail.outlook.com

    • Username:  your email address

    • Password:  your password

  6. Tap the Save button.  The app should confirm successful login.

 

 

Authorize App Access

 

If your Microsoft Live account is configured to use an Identify verification app, your login attempts from the app may be blocked.

 

  1. Configure the Truckerdox app to use your Outlook.com account as described under "Manually Configure Email Settings" above.

  2. After failed login, the Microsoft authenticator app should prompt you about the login attempt.  Allow access when prompted.

  3. Return to the Truckerdox Inbox Setting screen and tap Save again.

  4. If the login fails again, you may be prompted by the Microsoft authenticator app again.  The authorization requests are time-sensitive, so the authorization approval must be completed quickly.

 

 

Create Secure App Password

 

The following instructions only apply to users with Two-Step Verification enabled.  After a user has enabled Two-Step Verification, Microsoft expects users to generate a unique "App password" for each application that logs in.

 

  1. Visit Microsoft's security settings page at https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage

  2. Scroll down to the App passwords section.

  3. Click on Create a new app password.

  4. A new app password will be displayed on your screen.  Write down the 16-character app password.

  5. Open the Truckerdox app on your mobile device and log in.

  6. Click the Settings (gear) icon in the app.

  7. Click the Inbox Setting button.

  8. Input your new app password in the Password field.

  9. Click Save to save your changes.  The app should indicate successful login.
